On the Precipice

She stood at the edge of the abyss
Her dress fluttering in the breeze
Grass to charred earth to void
Hellions twisted and encircled
She watched as they begged in ecstasy

Gnarled claws grasped towards the city
On the very edge of the crater
The metropolis fell
Artifice crashing against nature
Screaming, tumbling, descending

He stared across the maw
Dressed in a cloak of shadows
He smirked in disgust
They both knew
They were on the precipice of something greater
